Mental Health Presentations

I offer presentations about Mental Health Awareness for young people at school and Mental Health Awareness for adults in working environments. These presentations can be tailored to your specific needs and requirements.

Mental Health Awareness for Young People at School

I discuss different aspects of mental health relevant to young people at school. This includes an exploration of mental health difficulties, while promoting self-care and wellbeing. The aims with these presentations can be summarized in the following aspects:

  1. 1) Gain insight into most common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety issues, eating difficulties and self-harm. In this regard, I aim to answer questions; challenge prejudices and rectify misconceptions.

  2. 2) Acquire some basic knowledge about neurodevelopmental difficulties such as autism, ADHD and TICS. Once again, I aim to answer questions; challenge prejudices and rectify misconceptions.

  3. 3) Gain an understanding about psychological treatments available for most common mental health difficulties. For instance, I will explain how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works.

  4. 4) Promote openness among students, encouraging them to talk to their family and friends about their difficulties. This is an important element of my presentation as I have noticed in my work that one of the biggest challenges with young people is that they do not talk to others about their mental health difficulties. This leads many times to a further deterioration of their mental health.

  5. 5) Normalize mental health difficulties for those who may be experiencing them.

  6. 6) Help students to achieve a healthy sense of self-esteem in the context of a very demanding society.

  7. 7) Statistics have revealed that, in general, men are less likely to seek help for their mental health difficulties as compared to women. Although there are no statistics available specific for young men, it is worth exploring the causes of this potential trend as it could also affect young men. Discuss fears, challenge prejudices on this topic and promote help seeking behaviours when necessary.

  8. 8) Promote understanding, acceptance and compassion towards others who may be suffering from mental health issues.

  9. 9) Provide students with tools to promote self-care and increase their well-being.

Mental Health Awareness for Adults in Working Environments

I discuss different aspects of mental health relevant to adults in working environments. This includes an exploration of mental health difficulties, while promoting self-care and wellbeing. These talks are informal with plenty of opportunities for interactions and questions. The interactive character of these talks aims at challenging prejudices and rectifying misconceptions.
